Lulu Group, situated in the UAE, is set to embark on a significant recruitment drive, aiming to bring in numerous new employees, as it prepares to establish a network of 50 cinemas across various Emirates. The operational workforce for each cinema complex is projected to range from 25 to 30 individuals, resulting in a total requirement of up to 1,500 personnel to effectively manage the theaters. This expansion aligns with the surge in hiring activities within the UAE, with the local job market showing remarkable growth during the post-pandemic era.
In a recent development, Line Investments & Property, the division responsible for shopping mall development and management within Lulu Group International, solidified a partnership with Star Cinemas. The collaboration entails the operation of these cinemas, which will feature a diverse array of films spanning Arabic, Hindi, English, and other languages.
MA Ashraf Ali, the Executive Director of Lulu Group International, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the extended partnership with Star Cinemas, which will now oversee movie distribution throughout the GCC region. This alignment aims to capitalize on the potential presented by this cinematic venture.
As the initiative unfolds, MA Ashraf Ali revealed the necessity for a substantial workforce, detailing that the envisioned expansion encompassing over 50 cinemas will mandate a minimum staff of 25 to 30 individuals per establishment, ultimately necessitating a workforce of up to 1,500 individuals to facilitate the smooth operation of these cinemas.
In a recent milestone, Line Investments & Property, in conjunction with Star Cinemas, inked an agreement that will introduce 22 new screens, supplementing the existing 76 screens under Star Cinemas’ management. The ceremony commemorating this achievement saw the presence of MA Ashraf Ali, alongside Ahmad Golchin, the Founder and Chairman of Phars Film & Stars Cinema, and other dignitaries.
This collaborative endeavor positions Star Cinemas as the second-largest cinema operator in the UAE, as gauged by the total number of screens. The joint venture has paved the way for the addition of 3 screens at Al Raha Mall, 9 screens at Al Wahda Mall, 6 screens at Al Foah Mall, and 4 screens at Barari Outlet Mall in September 2023.
The comprehensive agreement also encompasses the establishment of Star Cinemas in prominent malls such as Dubai Silicon Oasis Mall, Sharjah Central Mall, and RAK Mall in Ras Al Khaimah. Ahmad Golchin noted that the development work would commence imminently at Dubai Silicon Oasis, followed by Sharjah Central and RAK Mall.
