60,000 years of Australian history unravel on the dome screen as the rays of an Australian sunrise flicker across the screen. Blue Sky Dreaming, the work’s theme, presents an awe-inspiring tale of Australian ingenuity and innovation.
The pavilion’s roof features a cloud-like canopy that represents the multiculturalism of Australia and the 300 different ancestries represented by it. The canopy is made up of powder-coated aluminum blades of varying lengths.
An array of lights will illuminate the cloud at night, creating a dynamic display that mimics Australian skies. The cloud symbolizes Australia’s power as a society that is socially, culturally, and linguistically diverse.
With a 3,552sqm plot in the Mobility district, the pavilion will feature an experience that will entertain and inspire visitors by showcasing Australian capabilities, aspirations, and visions for the future.
“Australia is an incredibly innovative and clever nation. We are bringing 3D-printed brain matter that is contributing to the healthcare sector. We are showcasing innovations in sustainability, agriculture…that the world may or may not be aware of.” McGowan concluded.
