UAE’s Dubai International Airport is now conducting random PCR tests on passengers arriving on some flights as part of its efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.
In some cases, passengers arriving from certain countries must undergo mandatory testing. These include Brazil, India, Bangladesh, Russia, and Pakistan, for example.
An official from the Dubai Media Office said that additional screenings are taking place on passengers who arrive on flights not included in screening lists.
Furthermore, passengers arriving from the UK stated DXB tested them upon their arrival. The UK is not one of the countries where PCR tests are mandatory.
A negative PCR test for Covid19 must be taken no more than 72 hours before departure by all passengers travelling from the UK to Dubai. The mandatory tests are administered upon arrival to residents of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Sudan. Also, pre-arrival ICA and GDRFA approvals are required for these passengers.
In addition, this does not apply to passengers with other visas, such as newly issued residency or employment visas, short-term or long-term visas, and holders of ten-year UAE Golden visas, investor visas, and visas on arrival.

In addition to a negative Covid19 PCR test certificate, arriving passengers must present a QR code for a test conducted within 48 hours. In order to calculate validity after leaving an approved health facility, the sample should be collected at that time.
Covid19 Rapid PCR test reports with QR codes must also be presented by passengers within six hours of departure following a test conducted at the departure airport.
After the first PCR test, those who test positive must quarantine for ten days. Passengers do not need to remain in isolation if the Covid-19 PCR test result is negative.
