The opening ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai will take place on September 30 with a star-studded lineup of stars from around the world and top homegrown talent. In addition to the tenor Andrea Bocelli and the British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, Al Wasl Plaza will be dazzling with celebrities.
Expo 2020 Dubai chief event and entertainment officer Tareq Ghosheh said, “This is the ‘big bang’ that sets the scene for 182 days of visually pleasing and emotionally moving experiences.”
As the artists gather for a groundbreaking performance, the world will be treated to stunning visuals, and superb music and performances.
Alongside the Grammy-nominated artist Andra Day, three platinum-selling pianists Lang Lang and Angelique Kidjo will also take part in the stellar line-up.
As well as ‘Artist of Arabs’ Mohamed Abdo and the Emirati singing sensation ‘Fananat Al Arab’ Ahlam Alshamsi, the program features musicians and music producers from the Emirati region and the Expo 2020 Dubai ambassador is a trendsetter on the Khaleeji music scene in the Middle East and internationally; ascendant UAE singer-songwriter Almas; and Grammy-nominated Lebanese-American singer Mayssa Karaa.
The opening ceremony will showcase the UAE’s deep-rooted values, as well as the vision and purpose of the Expo, by taking viewers on a journey through the Expo’s three subthemes: opportunity, mobility, and sustainability. The revolving stage and stunning surrounds will immerse the audience in the action as they watch the show unfold.
“While the world is looking at the UAE as the world’s top event destination, this extraordinary, unforgettable evening will capture its collaborative, creative and optimistic spirit,” Ghosheh said.
