WHO CAN APPLY FOR SHARJAH DRIVING LICENCE RENEWAL?

If your driving licence is about to expire in the next six months, you can apply for Sharjah driving licence renewal. There is a grace period of 30 days after expiry before you will be fined AED 10 for every passing month. The amount can go up to AED 500 in total.

If you are applying for Sharjah driving licence renewal after 10 years, a new driving test would be mandatory.

WHERE CAN I APPLY FOR SHARJAH DRIVING LICENCE RENEWAL?

There are two ways to apply for Sharjah licence renewal. One option is to visit the Customer Happiness Centre located in Al Ramtha in person. The centre remains open from 07:30 am to 02:30 pm, Saturday to Thursday. Alternatively, Sharjah driving licence renewal online is also possible via the official Ministry of Interior (MOI) website.

WHAT ARE THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR SHARJAH LICENCE RENEWAL?

You require the following documents to renew a Sharjah driving licence that is about to expire soon.

  • Old licence
  • Original Emirates ID
  • Personal photo 
  • Valid eye test

Please note that eye tests required to get a new driving licence remain valid for 3 years. Hence, if you get the licence renewed after two years, the old eye test would still be valid. However, if it’s been more than three years, a new test is needed. You can take the test at any of the approved eye test centres in Sharjah including Yateem Opticians, Grand Optics, Rivoli Eyezone, Al Jaber Optical and others.

For in-person applications, you can submit all the aforementioned documents and pay the renewal fees. You will be given a temporary licence, which can be used until the renewed licence is issued.

HOW MUCH IS THE SHARJAH LICENCE RENEWAL FEE?

The Sharjah licence renewal fee is AED 120 for residents under 21 years. For those 21 years old or above, the fee is AED 320. An additional fee of AED 15 is charged for licence delivery. To avoid this fee, you can collect the licence on your own. Payments for renewal can be made via credit cards. 

HOW LONG WILL MY RENEWED LICENCE REMAIN VALID? 

For UAE and GCC Nationals, a renewed licence is usually valid for 10 years. For expats, the validity period is 5 years.
