At Expo 2020, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan will be honored

A glittering presentation ceremony will take place on Sunday, in the heart of Expo 2020 Dubai – the Dubai Exhibition Centre, to celebrate the 11th edition of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award.

The International Sports Personality Award has been presented to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan in recognition of his efforts to make Pakistan one of the world’s leading cricketing nations. Pakistan defeated England in the final of the 1992 Cricket World Cup, which he captained.

As a sports icon, he continues to inspire young people in his role as Prime Minister, elevating the status of sports in general and cricket in particular and empowering Pakistani society through sports. Almost half of Pakistan’s 221 million citizens identify as cricket fans, and the Pakistan Cricket Board has registered 42,000 players.

Under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s initiative, Pakistan’s youth are eligible for scholarships, skill-development opportunities, as well as sports scholarships under an ambitious $639 million initiative. Imran Khan announced in June this year that every union council and village council in Pakistan will have a cricket ground.
